On January 28, 2007, we honoured six Canadian music legends including Joni Mitchell and Jean-Pierre Ferland and 25 classic Canadian songs including David Clayton-Thomas’ “Spinning Wheel” and Marc Hamilton’s “Comme j’ai toujours envie d’aimer”, for their roles in shaping our country’s musical landscape. Our 4th Annual Gala, held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre’s John Bassett Theatre was a magical evening that saw the who’s who of the Canadian music industry out in full force to pay their respects to Canada’s songwriting greats.
The Gala featured incredible performances including James Taylor’s haunting rendition of Joni Mitchell’s “Woodstock”, Michael Bublé’s swinging delivery of Ralph Freed and Burton Lane’s “How About You?”, Jim Cuddy and Oh Susanna’s rendition of Sylvia Tyson’s “You Were On My Mind” and Measha Brueggergosman’s breathtaking interpretation of Mitchell’s classic “Both Sides Now”.
